TRAX
If you’re looking to take the next step in leadership training and have a desire to counsel campers, then TRAX is for you! TRAX is a week of intense training that combines formal instruction and hands-on experience with campers. You will also learn how to use all of the activity centers at camp to enhance your effectiveness as a counselor. A highlight of the week is a special rock climbing trip to Devil’s Lake.
TRAX targets those who have just completed grades 8, 9, 10 or 11. This training is strongly recommended for any new counselor. Those who have completed this training will be given priority placement as an assistant counselor.
There is a fee of $275 for this week of training and an application is required. Space is limited – priority will be given to older applicants.
To apply – download a copy of the Summer Volunteer Application Packet. Here’s what to do, form by form:
Summer Volunteer Application
- Complete the personal information.
- Select the TRAX program by placing TR in the position code box for 6/12-18.
Note: You’ll notice that there are other opportunities throughout the summer. We highly recommend that you sign-up to join our summer volunteer program in addition to taking the TRAX training. This will give you the bigger picture of this camping ministry and all the support functions that make your role as a counselor possible.
- Answer the questions.
- Write your testimony on the back (or on a separate sheet of paper).
- Sign the application.
SBR Volunteer Reference Form
- Give to your pastor, small group leader, Bible study facilitator etc. (someone who can comment on your spiritual readiness for counseling). Give them a stamped/addressed envelope with all the forms of the application. They will mail out your application once they finish the reference.
Health Form/Medical Release
- Complete the form – no physical exam is required by a physician.
Note: Only one form is needed per year whether you are a camper, summer volunteer, or in the TRAX program.
Summer Volunteer Covenant
- Read completely and sign.
That’s all there’s to it. If you are accepted to TRAX, you will receive a confirmation letter that will include information on bus transportation, costs, what to bring etc. If you have questions about this application or TRAX, please contact me at
